Markus likes to thank Annette for seeing through the english translation
of his story. His comic strips appear in various magazines and have been
shown at exhibitions in Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Bologna, Erlangen, Prague and elsewhere.
1994 he received the ICOM-Award at the german comic strips festival held
in Erlangen.
The comic book Promenade à Staurnia was published by AMOK
of Paris, France in January 2000. It’s a more or less true story about
what happened in Italy in summer 1999. Four persons and one, well, let’s call
it a being are going on a day trip to the tarot-garden of Niki de Saint
Phalle and to the hot sulphur springs of Saturnia. Some fall in love, others
fantazise under the influence of drugs and others, again, talk strangely.
Furthermore there is a rich folks’ party, and then some sinister figures
show up. This book has the ISBN number 2-911-842-47-2. The same story was
published in the german language in "Strapazin" no 58. The swiss
comic magazine Strapazin is a highly recommendable source for the
advanced comic literate.
Nichts von Bedeutung (Nothing of Relevance) was published by Edition Moderne from Zurich in 2002. It's a two color book of 32 pages. ISBN 3-907055-58-6. Nichts von Bedeutung is about love. And about frying eggs. Both things can be easily ruined. The four stories in the book are pop songs, like drawn video clips. The words are taken from songs by Waldorf and Statler from Hamburg. Obviously, the book is in german. One of these stories
was reprinted in Mutants - the German Language Comic Avantgarde
of the 90s, the german language catalogue to the exhibition held at
the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf in winter 99. This splendidly illustrated
catalogue has the ISBN number 3-7757-0900-2. Italian Readers find stories by Markus Huber
in Ja!comix - Antologia di storie a fumetti in lingua tedesca published by Edizioni
Vivacomix in 2001.
Apart from comic strips Markus Huber illustrates magazines,
books and electronic media.
